Useful and to the point video- thank you!
The little engine that started it all!
Did they have camshafts in them?
Oh I loved that show! Good job! I love that she's a woman that has helped tell about women from industry across time.
more Ruth Goodman please, please!
Big Smoke: we just wait it going fast
I feel like the guy who made this and cugnot were so ahead of their time they could've done real amazing work if they worked together
Ruth goodman❤
“They don’t make em like they used to.”
Oh wow no rails! I never realised
BBC,Living History series is the best History series ever put together!
She’s not easy on the eye. Is she?😂
That’s not very nice
This is amazing, I am now 60 yo, but when I was a kid, maybe seven or eight years old, I had plastic model that I glued together… now to see the real thing actually working…👍
The same people that hate EV's today and claim it won't work would have hated the Trevithick back in it's day. Some people can't accept new technology
Yes and no. First off, EVs - AND wind turbines, AND solar panels, et al - are all unproven and subsidized heavily by government power for some interesting reason. Unlike these things. They're paying for them to work, but there is very little proven without pushing from those in legal power. IMO, we've turned upside down, from eternal pessimists - nothing will work - to eternal optimists - EVERYTHING works! Given the huge propaganda inertia for anything that "saves the Earth" (i.e., The Environment(TM) religion) world-wide at least in First-World European type countries, clearly too many automatically believe anything will work and work well (key). Those who "hate" EVs obviously do not rule the day, because all these things are being pushed constantly publicly, subsidized, and presumed as if they just are a matter of course and taken for granted (watch TV sometime - all the commercials, show, etc, presume it's just part of life now).
PS, I like that you like German Shepherds.
geil!
My crushes grand grand grand grand grand father rode the first ever train
Now I understand the reference in Harry's Song for Cornwall.
Its a shame that back then when a single working woman got married got kicked to the curb.
My great great great great great great grandfather
Too many moving parts that can break and be too hard to replace, and it has to have rails...it will never replace the mule
A beautiful piece of Enginuity. 🥹 Even though we don’t see them that often anymore, it’s nice to see some people spend their time to revive these relics of history. 🙏
Thanks to Mr. Trevithick locomotives and railway transport exist. He would undoubtedly deserve monuments around the world for his contribution to the well-being of the society.
Is that j3vu?!
What will they think of next?
How i love humans!!
😮😮
I sub channel, fantastic locomotive, cheers Fabrizio - like 30714

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Whats the date on that ? 1802 ?
It’s 1804. Close, but no cigar.
does'nt look like a steam engine to me
Segway: The Early Years (!)
What I get is that on Google they still call stvensons rocket the first steam train
😮 wonderfull!❤
awesome, thanks for sharing
They see me rollin, they hatin'
George Stephenson is the guy not Trevithick
You are mistaken Richard trevithick built his locomotive before george Stevenson
I thought it was about twice the size of this tbh.
Ah, the Catch-Me-Who-Can. At least if I'm remembering my books right. For those who have read Sir Pterry's _Raising Steam_ (as I have), I'm pretty sure Iron Girder's original form is basically meant to be this engine (well, the one it's a replica of).
"Catchmewhocan" was build my in 1808 for a steam circus of his idea if i remember, this one is Coalbrookdale by Richard trevick, he build Puffing Devil in 1801, but it was a more of a steam wagon then a locomotive.
Better than Tesla
I can only imagine how many fingers that reverser broke when Coalbrookdale ran
Ruth is a joy to watch & listen to!! Her knowledge bank must be beyond incredible!! I will now look forward to reading her books!! How lucky to have a job as a historian - because you can never stop learning !!!
Where is the video?
Love Ruth. I wish I knew she was here, I live in Ironbridge 😂
It would be amusing to put gongman as an occupation
